
Terms and Conditions
1. Promoter - Experian Limited, 80 Victoria Street, 6th Floor, Cardinal Place, London, SW1E 5JL.
2. Entry is open to UK residents (excluding Northern Ireland) who are First Time Property Buyers (as defined below), aged 18 or over at the time of entry, except employees of the Promoter and those connected with the organisation or administration of the competition and as set out in paragraph 4 below.
3. For the purposes of the competition a "First Time Property Buyer" is defined as a person who has not previously owned a property, or taken out a mortgage, but does intend to do so within the next 12 months.
4. The £20,000 prize is to be used as full or partial deposit towards a property that is new to the entrant, and not yet in the ownership of either the entrant or their associate(s).
5. One entry per person.
6. Entries to the competition should be made online via the official entry form on the competition tab of the Experian website www.experian.co.uk/mortgages where the question is listed, by submitting an answer to the question and providing your full name, email address, telephone number and postcode when prompted. Any entry made in any other format or which is incomplete, illegible or defaced will be rejected.
7. The official entry form is hosted by Experian Marketing Services which is a division of the Experian group based in the United States. Personal data submitted through the official entry form will be collected by Experian Marketing Services and transferred to the Promoter and by submitting an entry you consent to your personal data being transferred to and processed in the United States.
8. The competition will open for entries on Wednesday 30 April 2014 and will run for two full weeks, closing at 23.59 on Wednesday 14 May 2014. The Promoter shall not be responsible for lost or late entries.
9. All entries will be moderated by Experian, the Promoter, to manage the competition and to ensure entries abide by the terms and conditions.
10. The winner of the £20,000 prize will be the person who correctly answered the question via the official entry form, and in the case of more than one (1) entrant answering the question correctly, the winner will be drawn at random from all correct and eligible entries under independent supervision by 10.30 on Friday 16 May 2014. The winner will be informed on Friday 16 May 2014 by email and/or phone to the email address and/or phone number submitted on entry. Should the winner not respond within one week of notification, a re-draw will take place at random and the notification and re-draw process will be repeated as above until the prize is claimed.
11. The winner will be sent a declaration form which they must sign and date to confirm their status as a First Time Property Buyer. This must be counter-signed by two other people. The winner will have one week to sign and return the declaration form. If the declaration form is not received by Experian within ten days after the declaration form is sent to the winner, a re-draw will take place at random and the notification and re-draw process will be repeated as above until the prize is claimed.
12. The winner of the competition will be paid by BACS bank transfer within three weeks of the winner's details and the signed declaration form being received by the Promoter. The full name and home city of the winner will be displayed on Experian's Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ExperianUK) and Twitter page (https://twitter.com/experianexperts) as soon as practicable following the Promoter's receipt of the winner's details and the signed declaration form. Both of these social media pages are public and do not require accounts in order to view.
13. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible (i) for any liability arising from any cancellation or delay of, or change to, the prize beyond the Promoter's control, or (ii) for any injury sustained as a result of the prize, save to the extent of death or personal injury due to the negligence of the Promoter.
14. The winner drawn is non-negotiable. The judge's decision is final.
15. Other than as expressly stated above, no prize alternative is available. No purchase is necessary.
16. In order to administer this competition, participants will be required to provide certain personal information to Experian. By providing this information and submitting your entry, you consent to this information being processed by Experian in accordance with these terms and conditions and our privacy policy.
17. The winner will be required to take part in promotional activities for the 12 months following the competition. This is likely to include taking part in a first time property buyer case study, allowing us to follow the winner's journey towards buying their first home. This is likely to consist of five telephone conversations throughout the year, as well as photos of the winner with their new home. The case study will be used on a variety of promotional channels.
18. By entering into this competition and answering the question participants agree that copyright in their submission is licensed on a perpetual and irrevocable basis to the Promoter.
19. Other than as set out in these terms and conditions, entrants' details will not be used by the Promoter for marketing purposes unless they have indicated elsewhere that they wish to be contacted for marketing purposes.
20. Each entrant acknowledges that the content of the Experian website www.experian.co.uk/mortgages is provided for general information only and has not been relied upon by the entrant.
21. The competition and these terms and conditions are governed by English law.
