Privacy Policy for Mortgages Matters competition
1 Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what will happen to any Personal Data you provide by taking part in any Competition with the Promoter.
To explain what we mean by these terms in bold, our explanations are here:
Competition: This means any competition that you choose to enter into by clicking a link, answering a question and submitting your Personal Data.
Promoter: This is Experian Limited, 80 Victoria Street, 6th Floor, Cardinal Place, London SW1E 5JL. Experian is responsible for the processing of any personal data you provide to take part in a Competition and is registered in the United Kingdom under the UK Data Protection Act 1998 (registration number: Z6424480).
Personal Data: Means the personally identifiable information you provide to take part in the Competition, which is defined as Personal Data in the UK Data Protection Act 1998. This is explained more clearly in section 2 below: "The Personal Data collected about you".
2 The Personal Data collected about you
When you enter a Competition, we as the Promoter will collect the following Personal Data from you:
(a) Name (first name and surname);
(b) Email address;
(c) Telephone number; and
(d) Post code.
If we need to collect any other Personal Data about you in connection with a Competition, this will be made clear by the entry fields you need to complete to enter into the Competition.
If you are a winner, we may also need to collect additional Personal Data from you so that we can make any prize available to you (for example your bank details, where the prize is a paid by bank transfer).
3 How will we use the Personal Data you provide to us
We will use your Personal Data for the purposes set out here in this section:
(a) Entry into the Competition: The Promoter will use the Personal Data you provide to enable you to enter into the Competition and to enable us to process your entry.
(b) On-going Communications in connection with the Competition: This Personal Data may also be used by the Promoter, to communicate with you on any matter relating to the Competition and to administer prizes.
(c) Promotional activities: If you are the winner, we may also use your name and photographs of you as part of our promotional activities. These may be publicised using a wide range of promotional channels including (but not limited to) on Facebook and on our websites.
(d) Disclosures to third parties: As the Promoter, we may use third parties to assist us in providing the Competition. Where we do so, they may have access to your Personal Data. If so, we will ensure there is a contract in place which covers their services to us, and which includes data protection requirements.
(e) Marketing: Where you have provided your consent to receive marketing communications, we will use your Personal Data to send such communications to you. You will only receive communications from the Promoter. All of our communications will give you the opportunity to unsubscribe.
4 How we protect your Personal Data
We restrict access to your Personal Data to those employees, and third parties, who need to know and use that Personal Data for Competition related purposes. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your Personal Data.
When you click a link from the www.experian.co.uk/mortgages website and correctly answer the question to enter into a Competition, the link will take you to a page which Experian protects over the Internet by using secure web server technologies, which allows web browser programs (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer) to interact with Experian's web server via an encrypted session. Experian employs a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection that provides an encrypted connection between your computer and Experian. The 2048 bit encrypted connection scrambles ordinary text or data into cyphertext to safeguard sensitive information during its journey across the Internet. The information is decrypted, or put back into a readable format, when it reaches its intended destination.

5 Access to your Personal Data and correcting your Personal Data
You have the right to receive information about the Personal Data we hold about you (for which we may charge a small fee). The statutory fee is £10.00, except in the case of obtaining a copy of your credit report, for which the statutory fee is £2.00.

6 Overseas Data Transfers
The Personal Data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"), whose data protection laws do not provide the same level of protection as those in the UK. If a Competition requires the transfer of your Personal Data outside of the EEA, we will require adequate protections to be in place for the security of your Personal Data.
