Marie Myles

Director of Consulting

Marie has a wealth of client and supplier/agency experience in delivering data and insight driven actions and business benefits.

A senior direct marketer with over 12 years experience managing and delivering large scale sales and marketing plans in the utilities (TXU and ScottishPower) and telco (ntl) markets.  This is backed by over 7 years experience agency and supplier side ranging from  a Senior Planner in a direct marketing agency to leading a consultancy team in the analytics sector.

Able to adapt and apply her skills in other sectors with extensive Financial Services and Home Shopping experience as well as travel and now the luxury market; in fact any sector where customer data management and the application of analytics and research is key to added value.

Marie backs these marketing credentials with a strong commercial background and extensive team and project management skills. Marie has a BA (Hons)Economics backed by professional diplomas in Management Studies, Chartered Institute of Marketing and the IDM Diploma in Digital marketing (distinction).

Clive Gosling

Head of Consulting

Clive has a wealth of experience in senior project and marketing roles spanning some 20 years. Initially working in the retail sector Clive was programme manager for the Boots Advantage card trials and subsequent national launch. The resulting expertise in CRM led him to be Head of Sales, Product and Marketing for Barclays and Woolwich personal lending, followed by spells as Group Marketing Director for Cattles PLC, Marketing Director for a pre paid card company before setting up his own consulting business.

With 4 years consulting experience in the service sector and having worked with numerous clients both large and small, Clive is able to bring both the real world practicalities of day to day business and the in depth customer intelligence Experian can provide in to a seamless business solution that is both achievable and profitable.  Having been there and done it, Clive brings a sound commercial focus to any engagement with ability to find new channels and intelligence led opportunities.

Primarily focusing on the ever changing Financial services market within the Experian consulting team, engagements have spanned everything from gaming halls and football clubs to insurance businesses and far eastern theatres. As such a broad range of experience, business acumen and marketing experience can be bought to bear on any client issues.

Richard Jenkings

Lead Consultant

Richard has over 20 years of commercial and consulting experience in location planning and analysis.

Starting as a professional Town Planner he worked for a range of local authorities including Wakefield, Westminster and Newham automating planning applications and improving the efficiency of service delivery.

For 10 years he worked for CACI applying geo-demographic targeting to predominantly private sector retail clients and then managing a team of technical analysis staff delivering mapping and database solutions. For 2 years he was Technical director at Taylor Nelson Sofres in international branded products working on brand positioning in the FMCG and Pharmaceuticals areas.

Richard then returned to the market analysis industry to complete another decade as a consultant concentrating on predicting sales and creating “ideal” networks.

Richard has degrees in Geography, Town Planning and Computer Science and regularly speaks at conferences, industry events and several universities.

Debbie Oates

Principal Consultant

Debbie has over 20 years experience in leveraging data and insight to drive effective marketing strategies across both client and agency based roles. Recent posts have been consultancy based, building on client side experience as Customer Insight Manager for Britannia Building Society and Senior Analyst at Great Universal Stores.

Debbie specialises in managing and implementing customer insight, targeting and planning led projects to deliver increased effectiveness of clients acquisition and customer management programmes. She combines her strong analytical background with a pragmatic business led approach to ensure projects deliver commercial benefit. 

All skills are transferable to any sector where a data driven marketing approach is required - most recent assignments have been within Retail, Home Shopping, Personal Lending, Media and email analytics.  Her business experience is backed up with a BSc(Hons) in Maths Stats and Operational Research and a post graduate diploma in Applied Statistics.

James Miller

James benefits from over 10 years commercial experience, having worked at the heart of market strategy within both the retail (Comet Group, DSGi) and property (Cushman & Wakefield) sectors.

He has a strong background in deriving actionable insight from spatial and consumer data to drive major business decisions and projects, for retailers, developers, investors, and other customer focused businesses.

He has managed projects both in the UK and internationally, and can apply his skills in location planning, data analysis, market strategy, customer insight, and investment forecasting, to any sector where a spatial understanding of customer and market dynamics is critical to business success.

James is an economic geographer by training (BA Hons), holds a postgraduate diploma in property (distinction), and recently undertook a masters in Ecological Economics (MSc distinction) in line with his interests in sustainable business practices.

Ian Welch

Lead Consultant

Ian is an experienced data marketing professional with a proven record of achieving results across the automotive, home shopping, and charity sectors.

Ian combines his data expertise with commercial acumen to help organisations to achieve their objectives through the clever use of data. Prior to joining Experian he has project managed the requirements gathering and implementation of a campaign management system for Audi UK. Led and ran analytical projects in the automotive, financial services, home shopping and charity sectors. Undertaken consultancy projects with the Volkswagen Group and the Royal Mail.

His particular interest is working with clients to develop their data strategy to deliver more effective, communications, management reporting and analysis.

Ian has experience of managing direct marketing programmes and departments for Macmillan Cancer Support and RSPB. Ian has a BA (Hons) Government and Public Policy backed by professional the IDM Diploma in Direct Marketing.
