Brian Ledbetter
Director, McKinsey & Company

Brian Ledbetter is a Director in McKinsey’s Business Technology Office in London and leads McKinsey’s UK financial services practice.

For the past 15 years, Brian has served global banks and financial institutions on business and infrastructure transformation. In particular, he serves global investment banks on operations, IT, and infrastructure performance issues.

Prior to McKinsey, Brian was a product manager for enterprise software at Borland.

He has a degree in Architecture from Yale University.


Mark Thundercliffe
Chief Risk Officer – Retail Banking and Wealth Management – Europe, HSBC

In his role, Mark is responsible for Credit, Collections, Underwriting, Fraud, Retail Credit Risk Policy, Portfolio Management, Wealth and Risk Strategy across all of the bank’s Retail product lines in Europe.

He also serves as chairman and as a member on many of HSBC’s key committees, including the Model Governance, Stress Testing and Oversight, and the Global Retail Risk Oversight Steering committees.

Prior to HSBC, Mark directed banking operations in several international markets. He served as President and CEO of Home Credit, guiding the lender’s strategic and operational businesses in Asia, including development of a multi-provincial consumer finance company in China that gained a market-leading position.

He was also Executive Director of Renaissance Capital’s Consumer Finance division in Russia, and held several leadership positions with Citibank, including Executive Director of ZAO Citibank, Russia, Chief Risk Officer of Citigroup in the UK & Ireland, and Executive Director and Business Head of Citibank in India.


Gillian Key-Vice
Head of Regulatory Developments, Experian

Gillian is Head of Regulatory Developments, Experian, working to develop and enhance Experian’s credit bureau solutions by working in partnership with Government ministers, officials and advisors, parliamentary representatives, regulators, clients, consumer groups and other trade bodies.

With 30 years experience in banking and currently Vice President of the European Trade body for credit referencing (ACCIS), Gillian is engaged in a number of EU activities as well as working on specific projects in various EU countries.

She also supports clients on specific areas of expertise in the UK (data sharing and the Electoral Register), EMEA and worldwide and has been listed as one of the 100 most influential people in credit in the UK.


Michael Smith
Assistant General Counsel, Experian

Michael is Assistant General Counsel for Experian, managing the team which deals with contractual, regulatory and data issues for Experian’s UK business.

In addition, Michael is leading Experian’s work on the proposed EU Data Protection Regulation across EMEA and implications for our customers.

He has 14 years experience in a wide range of legal issues relating to the credit industry and prior to joining Experian he was a lawyer with national law firm Eversheds.

Marc Gaudart is responsible for Experian’s Decision Analytics Global Consulting Practice.

Marc joined Experian in the UK in 1990 as a credit scoring analyst, and subsequently held various analytics / consulting / sales / country leadership positions with the company across many countries.

He left Experian in 2000 to join McKinsey, the management consultancy firm, in London, and re-joined Experian in 2003.

Marc has been at the forefront of developing, implementing and rolling-out analytics-based risk and marketing strategies that leading global organisations are using successfully to improve their financial KPIs as well as customer service.


William Thomson
Director of Economics, Experian

William Thomson is Director of Economics at Experian. He has worked for many years to help some of the world’s leading private sector organisations understand how economic change will impact their business portfolios.

At Experian, he is responsible for macroeconomic and regional analysis and forecasting. He is currently helping Experian’s customers apply economic forecasts and analysis to portfolio risk analysis, credit scoring and portfolio loss forecasting and stress testing.

Prior to that he was Managing Director of European Economics at IHS Global Insight and Vice President of European Fixed Income Research at Merrill Lynch. William has also worked for the portfolio risk management division of the UK Export Credit Agency (ECGD). He holds degrees in economics from the University of Essex in the UK and a PhD in economics and econometrics from the University of Connecticut in the USA.

Steve Moxon
Head of Sales, UK Banking Team, Experian

Steve is a qualified Banker with over 30 years’ experience in the industry, of which over 25 years was spent working for a UK Bank.

Steve has considerable experience in commercial banking, including lending/relationship management, impaired asset management, process re-engineering, portfolio management and Basel II.

Steve’s additional banking experience spans a number of disciplines, including retail banking, work measurement, project management and retail credit risk management. Since joining Experian in 2007, Steve has worked with a number of UK Banks to support the development of their commercial lending capability.

Simon Waller
Head of Customer Management and Collections, Experian

Simon Waller is responsible for leading the growth, strategic development and operational management of Experian’s Customer Management, Collections, Recoveries and DCA business across Public and Private Sector markets. Simon has a broad background in the international IT and Financial Services industry, gained over the last 25 years working with clients to improve their Customer and Debt Management capabilities across the UK, EMEA and US markets.

Simon started his working career as a software developer at the time the UK and European markets were starting to transition to dedicated, specialist collections and recoveries systems. Over the following years, he has worked with most major providers, leading banks, lending institutions and debt management companies to implement systems and solutions that drive operational performance across the credit lifecycle.
